I want to point out the great work Lee Strobel has done for the Christian community! I was looking forward to getting this book for my children, and they were excited to receive it. However, this book hit well below expectations. I purchased it because of the high reviews and was disappointed.If the target audience of this book is for children that know very little about Jesus and need to be given information to show them who He is, then I might rate this better. The tone in it is very immature, even for a children's book, and it is written as if the reader doesn't know very much about Jesus.However, if the target audience of this book is for children that are believers or even children in a believers' home that are asking questions, it misses the mark. Children in these settings are already exposed to the Bible, which isn't watered down in language. This book is watered down and seems unnecessarily silly. It distracts from the good bits of information that are sprinkled in throughout. A childrens' book should be written with a level of vocabulary that a child can understand, but it should still be intellectually stimulating when the topic is such an important one. Children are far more capable at grasping things than adults sometimes think. We will be purchasing the original book.
